Delicious Meal and Snack Ideas for February Get Togethers

Is anyone else craving connection? If so, then you’re in luck, because February is filled with three fun events to celebrate with friends and family.  Eating a meal with others is a super way to connect, so I’m showcasing a few of my favourite turkey recipes for you to enjoy some deliciousness with others.

Snacks for a Superbowl Party

The big game is coming up and if you’re hosting a small party for your closest family and or friends, here are three snack-y ideas that are terrific for munching on at half time. They can all be made ahead so you can spend more time cheering on your team with your guests.

Chipotle Mango Turkey Skewers: These sweet and spicy skewers made with lean turkey breast are bursting with flavour. Use frozen mango to save time (bonus: frozen fruit is just as nutritious as fresh). Make them on the BBQ or on a grill pan inside. Terrific hot or cold.

Parmesan Turkey Meatballs. This parmesan turkey meatball is a winner! Put meatballs on skewers for an easy serving option. Small ramekins of marinara sauce for dipping would be super too.

Orange Ginger Turkey Pot Stickers. Pot stickers filled with ground turkey and shredded cabbage, take a little work, but trust me, the results are worth it! They can be made up to three days ahead, refrigerated and then heated up in a non-stick pan when you’re ready to eat.

Good to know: most ground turkey is extra lean, yet it’s full of flavour, so it boosts the tastiness of your ground meat recipes without a lot of fat. Ground turkey is also nutrient-rich and an excellent source of phosphorus, zinc, B12 and niacin. *

Scrumptious Valentines’ Day Dinner

Chocolates aren’t the only way to say, “I love you”. In fact, nothing says “love” like a home-cooked meal – even better when you make it together. Since there’s something seductive about eating with your fingers, both these recipes are fork optional.

Honey Sriracha Turkey Blue Cheese Quichettes. A kicked-up version of mini quiche, this honey sriracha quichette will have your mouth-watering. I envision this served with mini roasted potatoes drizzled with a mixture of warm honey and sriracha along with a glass of bubbly.

Honey Glazed Spicy Ground Turkey Radicchio Wraps. The flavours packed into this honey-glazed ground turkey will have your mouth watering for more. Don’t love radicchio? Try romaine or bibb lettuce instead.

Kids in the Kitchen for Family Day

Do-it-yourself meals are a terrific way to get everyone in the family involved – from planning to prepping to eating. Here are two tasty meals that you can cook with kids after spending some time tobogganing, skating, or playing games.

Thai Turkey Spring Rolls: Spring rolls take some effort – but they are fun to make – so they’re great for making when you have more time. Everyone can layer their spring rolls the way they like them. You never know – your kids might surprise you and try a new veggie.

Turkey Taco Pizza: This recipe combines two kid favourites: tacos and pizza. Try it with individual whole wheat naans or flatbreads and let everyone build their own. Serve with a big plate of veggies and dip (try salsa mixed with Greek yogurt and a big squeeze of lime).

Let’s be real…cooking with kids can take a little more time and it can be messy, but if you embrace instead of dread it, you can have a fun experience in the kitchen.

Hope your February is a tasty one!

Cheers,

Shannon
